Awards set to celebrate and reward local businesses

THE most prestigious awards for businesses in South Devon are back for April 2017.

Entries are now open for the Herald Express South Devon Business Awards 2017.

NOMINATION FORM ONLINE HERE: Entries are now open and will close on Monday, March 6.

The awards are an incredible opportunity to celebrate and reward those businesses and individuals who are helping to drive the South Devon area economically, culturally, and socially forward.

Jim Parker, editor of the Herald Express, said: “These awards have become firmly established as one of the main highlights of the calendar for our South Devon business community.

“We are delighted to once again be working alongside the Torbay Development Agency as our headline partners for the awards and I would like to thank them for their continued support which is invaluable.

“Success is all around us out in the vibrant and diverse local market place and these awards offer the ideal opportunity to recognise and salute those success stories whether they are about large or small businesses or individuals.

“I hope the entries start flooding in as they have done in record numbers in previous years.”

Headline sponsor for the event is the TDA and category sponsors include Wollen Michelmore and Brixham Dental.

Alan Denby, director of economic strategy and performance at the TDA, said: “Torbay Development Agency is proud to once again sponsor the Herald Express South Devon Business Awards.

“We believe the awards are an excellent opportunity to recognise the quality and to value the efforts of Torbay and South Devon businesses.

“We work with and support local businesses, understanding the challenges that come with running a business and the time people invest in making their business a success.

“We hope this celebration will further connect our business community and encourage ongoing investment and successful performance across Torbay and South Devon.

“We are proud to be able to support local businesses at every stage of their development, learning their aspirations and offering business support services including face to face advice and tailored workshops to help business owners and managers achieve their aims.

“Working at the heart of the business community, TDA connects businesses in growing sectors, including hi-tech and manufacturing, regionally and nationally, and supports businesses trading internationally.

“The Route to Retail project, which was led by TDA, saw more than 110 applications and showcased 46 independent retailers in the Pop Up the High Street Shop. The shop gave these businesses the chance to gain a real life experience of retail on Torquay high street, and the majority of the retailers involved went on to expand their business online or gain a physical retail presence in and around Torbay.

“Our business support is provided as part of the Torbay’s wider economic strategy to help increase the rate of business growth leading to job creation and prosperity.

“We work closely with Torbay Council and other public sector partners to bring forward regeneration projects in Torbay, such as the Claylands site in Paignton and the Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre, which will further enhance the competitiveness of the region and provide investment and expansion opportunities.

“We work with new start businesses and businesses like yours to help you succeed and wish all the applicants the best of luck in the 2017 awards.”
