[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]November saw the opening of Chloe Clements’ fantastic new premises – Chloe’s Studio, a makeup studio and beauty salon based in Torquay. Set amongst perfectly pink décor and elegant floral selfie walls, the services include occasion makeup, 1-1 lessons, makeup masterclasses and bridal makeup as well as a variety of beauty treatments and hair extensions services.
The Challenge:
For the past 8 years, Chloe has trained and worked as a makeup artist, building a loyal clientele within the Torbay area. After gaining experience working for a number of luxury makeup brands, Chloe’s mission was to open up her very own salon. She wanted to create a fun, feminine and glamorous environment, where her clients would feel empowered and confident whilst receiving an exceptional beauty experience.
Chloe was confident with her business vision but needed some direction on how to transform her ideas into reality and get Chloe’s Studio up and running.
The Solution:
Chloe met with TDA business advisor Kim to discuss her business ideas, receiving support and guidance on the first steps of starting her company.
Kim provided Chloe with the support to develop and refine her business plan, which would help Chloe to successfully apply for and secure the Government Start Up Loan.
Chloe, owner of Chloe’s Studio, said: “I reached out to Kim from TDA after being recommended to her by a friend, I had the idea to create an amazing salon but I didn’t know where to start!
“I met with Kim and we discussed the ideas that I had and what the next steps for me to take would be. Kim helped me with applying for a Government funded business loan, she went through each step with me ensuring that I had enough knowledge to complete a strong business plan to send which would have to be approved by the Start Up Loan Company.
“Even after my business loan was approved, Kim was there to help me with anything else I needed. I was completely new to opening a business so it was really helpful to be able to contact Kim for advice on things such as my Lease and everything else that comes with opening a business. She constantly gave me reassurance and support and I cannot thank her enough.”
Kim Thornton, TDA Business Advisor, said: “Chloe is an inspiration to other Young Entrepreneurs. She adds excellence and professionalism into every aspect of her business. It was apparent from our very first meeting that she had a clear vision on how the salon would look and the experience she wanted to give her customers. It’s encouraging that Torbay’s Young Entrepreneurs are embracing self-employment to such a high standard.”
The Future:
After gaining over 2,000 followers on her social media within the first month of opening, Chloe’s goal is to expand her business in 2020 with the launch of a makeup academy, which will offer accredited makeup courses for her clients.
Kim Thornton added: “Chloe has some great plans to grow her business further and I will be there to support her along the way should she need it.”
Chloe continued to say: “I would highly recommend anyone who is looking to start a business to contact TDA. They made me feel so at ease and gave me the advice and confidence I needed to bring my visions to life.”
TDA have supported Chloe’s Studios through the early stages of her business start-up which has been enabled by the European Regional Development Fund – Enterprise Coaching Project, which provides fully funded business support to start-up businesses in Torbay through One to One sessions and Workshops.
