They also have also launched a clothing and giftware line, which is now available globally and at Walmart. The designs are great for babies through to millennials, with the bright and fun designs suited to both boys and girls across the age group.
The Challenge
With a bold use of bright colours, comical iconic images and feel good phrases, the Flossy and Jim brand is on a mission to encourage positivity and boost self esteem.
Flossy and Jim continually reviewed their business plan to manage cash flow, forecast growth and indentify opportunities. To enable their business to achieve its goals they felt the need to have independent business advice and support with managing their finances.
The Solution
Flossy and Jim met with TDA business advisors to complete a business diagnostic and review their business plans and strategy for growth.
Lynette Dare, Brand Owner, said: “TDA has supported our business from the very start; from an idea to a flourishing global business. They have provided support in all possible areas: business plans, marketing and sales advice, SEO, social media, cash flow forecasts and business growth. TDA also helped us secure funding and receive free advice regarding export. All the advisors at TDA are just amazing, friendly and so supportive.
Kim Thornton provided business support through the ERDF Growth Support programme.
Lynette continued: “Our business advisor, Kim, has sat with us when we have felt completely lost and has signposted us to where we need to go. She also celebrated with us when we found out we just secured a global publishing deal for our cartoon Horace and Co. TDA has been with us through it all!”
Results
The Flossy and Jim brand has won the Excellence Award for Best New Business and the prestigious Venus Award for Customer Service.
As part of the company’s mission to make the world a sunnier place, Flossy and Jim are pleased to be able to support the charity Young Minds, the UK’s leading charity championing the wellbeing and mental health of young people.
Kim Thornton, TDA Business Advisor said: “We used one of our 1-2-1 sessions to map out a cash flow, which gave a clearer forecast of the anticipated income stream in the forthcoming year. Through projections given to them by their agent, the business could estimate with some accuracy. This enabled targets to be set and clarified that the business was set to increase its turnover.
“Flossy and Jim has also benefitted from coaching, growth support, talking through areas of the business and having a sounding board to address issues and challenges. This gave the business more clarity of where it was heading, alongside reaffirming that they were progressing in the right direction.”
