Case Study: Maids Care

Maids Care CIC provides a range of high quality domiciliary care services to clients across Torbay. Jacqui McKenna and Anna Brewer, the directors of the company, established the business to deliver a package that meets the needs of many people in the area. With stories in the press of shorter and shorter home visits they knew they could offer a better service.

The Challenge

As a start up business, Jacqui looked into ways that the business could be supported through its early stages. While they were confident their offer was valued and would succeed, ways to find funding to support the business financially from the start was crucial.

The Solution

Jacqui applied for support to expand the business through the ERDF Growth Support Programme, which TDA is a delivery partner. After an initial business diagnostic with a TDA business Advisor, a support plan was created and the advisor helped the business create a realistic cash flow and develop a robust Business Plan. TDA were also able to signpost to other ERDF support and the company has received Digital and Social Enterprise support.

TDA Business advisors reviewed Maids Care’s business plan and offered loan guidance and mentoring for the company, helping them to get their application signed off, meeting a tight deadline.

Anna said: “The support I received from TDA has been incredible and I could not have got this without my mentor. TDA introduced me to a number of opportunities business support workshops.”

Results

Maids Care is now successfully operating out of offices at Torbay Business Centre.

Jacqui continued: “The offices here are perfect for us. All the bills are included which helps us manage our overheads and it is ideally located in the heart of Torbay. The fact that we can continue to use the business advice available from TDA, as tenants of the Centre, is a real benefit to being here.”
