Celebrating over 130 businesses helped through free business support

This month we wanted to take some time to celebrate our ERDF funded business support projects. Since this time last year we have worked with over 130 business owners across Devon and Somerset to help them realise their goals in starting or growing their business.

Our business advisors like Alan, and Kim have worked with people who are right at the start of their business journey, as well as start ups and existing businesses looking to grow.

Every business is unique and that’s one of the things that makes this project so interesting, says Alan, our business advisor based in Somerset:

“The diversity of businesses in Somerset never ceases to amaze me. We have seen a huge variety of businesses so far, including a company manufacturing spelt, holiday cottage rental suppliers, restaurant suppliers, gardeners and two cinemas.”

As part of the project, our team can help you work through any challenges or questions you have about starting or growing your business. This might include key business topics like business planning, finance and funding and HR, as well as marketing and how to use social media. You’ll also be able to spend time with Cosmic, local digital specialists, who can take a look at your digital presence from digital marketing to cyber security. These digital sessions have been especially popular with our business owners so far.

One of our advisors Mark spent some time with Katrin, an artist based in Somerset, who was looking to start her own business:

“With the support of my business advisor I’ve built my confidence. I now have the belief in my ability and can take that step from art being a hobby to a business.”

In Torbay, business advisor Kim has worked with over 60 businesses through the Growth Support Programme:

“It has been a pleasure to work with some fantastic businesses. Some have just started while the oldest business recently celebrated its 70th anniversary. The initial diagnostic that I do with business owners gives a great snapshot of where the business is, so that we can create a support plan tailored to their goals.’

The programme also offers specialised support for social enterprises, including structure, compliance and funding.

Our business advisors are always happy to hear from business owners or those thinking of starting a business in Devon or Somerset. If you’d like to find out more about our free business support please go to www.tda-business.com.
