Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue, Exeter College, Midas Construction and Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are some of the top employers at the Torbay Apprenticeship Fair.
The first Torbay Apprenticeships Fair will take place on Wednesday 10 July 2019, 2pm-7pm at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay.
The free event is for school and college learners and parents, as well as people looking to upskill themselves or their employees. There will be over 20 employers across all sectors with over 200 live Apprenticeship vacancies on offer. There will be a range of businesses and training providers available to talk to about Apprenticeship opportunities and space for employers to also host informal interviews.
Rebecca Davies, TDA Senior Economic Development Officer, said: “The diversity of employers that we have exhibiting at the event is great. There are many key industries in Torbay and they all have great apprenticeship opportunities. This is an exciting chance for learners to match their skills and interests with local businesses to kick start their careers. The Fair will also help increase the number and value of Apprenticeship starts in Torbay.”
Building on the ambitions of the National Pilot ‘Opportunities Through Apprenticeships’, the free event will give local employers the opportunity to fill live Apprenticeship vacancies. For learners, it is a chance to see how they can earn whilst they learn.
Additional support for learners will be available on the day including CV and interview preparation, careers advice, coaching, a Pop Up Job Shop and a parent’s area providing information and refreshments. The Heart of the South West Careers Hub will also be attending providing information, advice and guidance to schools on implementing their Careers Strategy.

“Apprenticeships allow individuals to earn whilst they learn, and provide a structured career pathway, which can take you all the way through to a Degree-Level Apprenticeship. There are hundreds of job roles across a many sectors. We see Apprenticeships as being the infrastructure for the future skills needs of our region, and applaud the work being done by TDA to support both employers and individuals”.
The Torbay Apprenticeships Fair is being delivered in partnership for Torbay by TDA with Devon & Cornwall Training Provider Network, Heart of the South West LEP Careers Hub, South Devon College, Torbay Business Forum and Serco.
