An international trade bursary is open to Torbay based SMEs in across any industry sector looking to enter new country export markets. Companies can be new or existing exporters, but they must be looking at new markets.

Reforms to food labelling requirements

The Environment Secretary Michael Gove has announced new legislation to improve food safety. Under the new rules, all food businesses will be required to provide a full list of ingredients on pre-packaged food, including food that is prepared on the premises in which it is sold. The new rules are expected to come into force by summer 2021 and Defra will publish guidance to help food businesses prepare for the changes. However, trade body UKHospitality has warned that the new rules could be difficult for smaller food businesses to comply with and lead to less choice for consumers.

Inward investment brings 4,800 new jobs a month to the UK

Over 57,000 new jobs were created as a result of inward investment from foreign direct investment projects in 2018/19.
