Receiving Start and Grow support from TDA since they started trading on 1 September, Prentice Butchers have moved their business forward and eye up further success and expansion in 2017.
John Winsor receives regular 1-2-1 support from the TDA’s Business Advisors and has benefitted from mentoring to research the best rates and facilities to help his business thrive.
Torbay Council’s Elected Mayor and Executive Lead for Finance and Regeneration, Gordon Oliver, said: “Our efforts to support local businesses and see growth in Torbay continues. The work with Prentice Butchers is an example of how we assist businesses with their development, leading to growth, job creation and further investment into the area. There are many businesses in the region that are growing and the opportunities for businesses here are great. We help local businesses realise their potential and aspirations, which goes hand in hand with our High Street regeneration campaigns.”
Through the support, John also identified solutions to provide alternative payment options for his produce to encourage spending in the shop. The business prides itself on fresh produce and is looking to expand its range and go online in the New Year.
John, who applied for the Start and Grow programme to set up Prentice Butchers, said: “After all the hard work, time and effort put into developing the business idea it has been rewarding to work alongside professional help from the start and to have a personal mentor. The regular contact and meetings throughout are very helpful and give you an opportunity to bounce ideas off each other. The TDA Business advisors were always a phone call or email away.”
Kim Thornton, Business Advisor at TDA, said: “We look forward to continuing to work with Prentice Butchers and help the business grow further. Our ongoing support will help John with any challenges he has in the future and provide support in areas where he needs it most. We have experts in our team that can help with marketing, finance and digital support so John knows he is in safe hands.”
